So! This is gonna be a post about bullying. Specifically, cyberbullying.
Beware, I will be name and shaming, and I don't care. Don't like it? Don't read it. There's a comment section, feel free to bitch and moan and cry or, preferably, support one another.
Bullying people isn't cool As I said I was recently a victim when a man named Aidin, who was, WAS, the little bitch of an owner of North Providence in SL told me "Take your post down" (I put it back up, by the way) "Or I'm returning all of NP." Huh. Really Aidin? Why? In fact, let me pose this to all of you that threatened me after I last put that post up. Why me? Why did you all decide to bully me when you were the ones who asked the questions? More on that in the previous post. Moving along.
I've been on the receiving end of it a lot. I've seen friends on the receiving end of it. I've lost two friends to suicide over it. Let me tell you one story.
It was a clear gorgeous day out, and five girls were piled into a car. Three I knew. The driver, the passenger, and the girl in the back in the middle. The positions are important. They were driving down a road, a nice long flat stretch of northern wisconsin rural backroad, going way faster than they should have been. Suddenly, somehow the driver lost control of the car, and it flipped multiple times. The driver, my best friend, was ejected as it hit a pole. The car, needless to say was completely gone. Disintegrated, literally. The only survivor was the driver. She was bullied by other students when she got back to school. Bullied to the point that it didn't stop in person. People accused her online, published blogs, sent e-mails threatening her saying she planned it all. They posted photos of her laughing at the scene over their bodies (Photoshopped, she was in a coma), and she eventually killed herself.
Later that attention was turned to me for defending her. I won't go into details, yet, but needless to say all 3 self-attempts on my lie failed, but the harassment went on for over a year. Sure, you may say "Well it's just words online."
Do you realize there's an actual person behind the screen? Hi! I'm 28, I'm a female, and I live somewhere in mid-wisconsin! I'm a person! I'm going to pinch myself to...OK no I'm not because first of all that hurts and second of all you can't see it, so I'm not hurting myself! Sorry! The point is, sure it's words on a screen. But those words come from a hateful human, from their tiny excuse of a brain to their tiny fingers they use to stroke their tiny little e-peen, to a keyboard, through cyberspace, to another persons screen, and into their minds. It wears on them after awhile. Words hurt, people. Text or verbal, they hurt. People don't seem to understand, yeah it's "The internet", but it's still person to person, just in a different way. Now with the invention of that piece of shit Sarahah, which there needs to be a petition to take it down, cyberbullying is even worse because you can remain fully anon. I've seen some very hateful things, I've HAD very hateful things said to me. I've seen even worse said to others!
Words. Hurt.
Please, if someone is bullying you, put your fucking foot down. Don't let people bully you. Don't let them threaten you. Report that shit. Aidin did it on discord, and I reported him on discord. But sometimes it's not enough. If someone threatens you, threatens actual, physical harm? Tell the local authorities. Do NOT sit on that shit! You don't know. It's the information age. It takes very little to get somones information, name address phone number, etc. I'm fortunate. I share the exact same name as a celebrity (Who is the same age as me) and live in a tourist town, so finding me is kinda hard. But not everyone is fortunate like that. Some have very unique names, small towns, etc. Be aware. Don't let people harass you. Again, local authorities. 911. 211 Call for Help in most states I believe. Suicide prevention lines. Websites, https://www.stopbullying.gov/, twitter even! https://twitter.com/StopBullyingGov Facebook, there's SO many resources out there! Don't let people push you around. Stand up for yourself, and if you can't, contact someone who can.
